In other words it is okay for a European manufacture to dominate but when it was a car from an American manufacture everything under the sun was done to try and stop the car from winning.

Times have changed, now it's 2024, Lamborghini now have a factory backed motorsports division, "Squadra Corse". In this year's Le Mans, the two SC63s finished 10th and 13th overall in their first LM outing, with only a few minor incidents and no serious reliability issues. The two Huracans also finished, most notably the Iron Dames car in 4th position in LMGT3 after battling for the lead for the most of the race, but a few racing incidents cost them heavily. As a lifelong Lamborghini fan, I can proudly say that Lamborghini is now becoming a major player in GT and Prototype racing 🙂

I'm Just come back here to say... FINALLY, THE UNLUCKY IS OVER A good 5 position in LMGT3 from Iron Dames and a very respectful good race on Hypercars (with the two cars finish, without any huge problems) Finally, after many years, Lamborghini finished Le Mans in a good position, hope for more progress and a better 24H of Le Mans in 2025.

The team with the silver-black Porsche at around 9:40 also has an interesting car in the VLN history. Well, at least one. And the Viper ran on in the V8 Superstars series. Fantastic story.

yup, sometimes being good is just too good. The Nissan GTR of the early 1990s is tarred with the same brush, both cars probab;y shou;d have been in what is now called GT3 racing as they certainly weren't touring cars like the rest of their competition

LeMans officials constantly make rules to keep US manufacturers from winning. From the viper penalties, to adding hundreds of lbs of weight to the C5R, it’s always been a shit show. More recently, the FIA has prevented Cadillac from competing in F1 with essentially no reason whatsoever.

I have a request to you! Could you make several 2 hour episodes of the history of Lamborghini's attempt to enter the world of motorsports starting from the Islero up to their very successful Huracan that won its first ever 24 Hours Of Daytona and Sebring! Yes history of their failure of each car for each episode to their recent success in racing!

3 things held back Lamborghini from entering the expensive and extreme world of Motorsport the most expensive sport of all! The first thing you said was the founders interests, Ferruccio had this rule to never go racing! Lamborghini changed hands a few times from the 70's until the late 90's! From the Mimram Family, to Walter Wolf, to Chrysler, to Megatech Corporation the Prince of Suharto Indonesia owned Lamborghini for several years then finaly AUDI in 1998! This is because they lack money! And third LACK OF SPONSORS! Instead of Lamborghini to be supposedly the first one to be intersted to race, priveteers like the Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club (J-LOC) and a few more priveteers where the ones who had the balls to attempt to race their Lamborghini Supercar! Yes these are all a continuous string of BAD LUCK! But in anything you choose to do, you cannot just rely with your people, sponsors, money and skills, YOU ALSO NEED LUCK TO WIN!

The craziest thing about the 07 is that technically, its built on the bones of the previous cost capped LMP2: The Oreca 05 (which itself was run by Rebellion in LMP1 as the R1). Any customer that ran this car and wanted the new car could simply have it upgraded to the new car since so many of the internals were relatively the same.

The reason that they ran drum brakes was because American Motorsport Engineering was 20 years behind the European entrees.

There was a report read out to the press during the 2000 Dakar airlift that explained the situation, the GIA had around 300 men over 40 armed vehicles ready to pounce on the rally as they passed through Niger. They were targeting Niger in retaliation for the Niger army's involvement in a 1998 campaign against the GIA in Algeria. The Niger government actually claimed to have over 2000 military personnel ready to protect the rally and were confident it could proceed as normal, but the organisers made the decision to bypass Niger completely. The Niger authorities actually saw the airlift as an insult to their country and claimed it tarnished their international image. There's a funny quote from rally organiser Roger Kalmanovitz about the situation; "I am not sure we will be welcome here next year" 😅
